American Dart League - Local Bylaws
ALL Leagues
These local by-laws are a secondary source of information created in accordance with and in addition to the League Rules Manual. The League Rules Manual is your primary source of information and all rules in the manual will be followed. Keep these by-laws with your League Rules Manual. You should have your League Rules Manual and By-Laws with you at all League matches.
Weekly Fees:
Express (3 members) league weekly fees are $6.50 per person, per team, per week.
Open (4-6 members) league weekly fees are $7.25 per person, per team, per week.
Dues MUST be paid by check or money order payable to “ADA of Lansing”. A $35 service fee will be charged for each, and every, returned check, in addition to the amount of the original check. Captains are responsible for collecting all weekly from team members; and ADA membership fees from new substitutes playing on the team that week.
Dues MUST be paid each week, failure to submit dues and membership fees may result in penalty and/or suspension from the league.
DO NOT PAY CASH IN YOUR WEEKLY ENVELOPE.
Weekly Score Sheets and Standings:
Weekly division standings and schedules will be posted on the ADA web site at http://www.adadarters.com. Each team captain/member should print the standings from the web site and bring these to their matches.
Each host location will be given a packet containing the weekly envelopes, by-laws, score sheets and rulebook for the session. This packet must be kept at the bar for the host teams. The home team is responsible for providing a score sheet and envelope from the packet. Following the match, the WINNING TEAM is responsible for placing the score sheet and match dues in the weekly envelope and mailing the envelope. Weekly match envelope is to be postmarked by day following the match and sent to:

The WINNING TEAM will be penalized 5 points for a late envelope. An envelope is considered late if not received by the evening of the second day following the match. Aside from any earned penalty, the score sheet shall be deemed final when the captains sign.
Prizes and Awards
Teams will be awarded $1 per point based on the regular session standings. Bye points will not be included in the prize payout. Pins will be awarded for achievements (hat trick, ton80, nine mark) – one pin per member per achievement per session. Division MVP award will be based on accumulated MOTW (Member of the Week) points for the regular session. Awards, including pins, trophies and prize money will be distributed at the division playoff finals match. Prizes and awards will be given to the team captain for distribution, unless other arrangements have been made.
Match Rescheduling:
Matches during the session can be rescheduled for a number of reasons, including but not limited to: inclement weather, team hardships, etc. Both teams must agree upon the reschedule and contact the Division Representative with a date and time. If a match is to be rescheduled for a different night of the week, please consult with the location manager/owner to avoid any problems. Rescheduled matches must be played within 2 weeks of the original match date. Except in the last 2 weeks of the session, then any rematch must be completed prior to the playoffs.
Match Rules:
- The visiting team shall fill in player names on the score sheet first.
- In Cricket matches, the first player listed, for any particular match, from each team shall shoot for bull to determine which team shoots first in that match.
- (STEELTIP)The board score shall stand as marked following the first dart thrown following any score being posted by the scorer. Mistakes may be corrected as AGREED by the captains.
- No player shall participate in any match prior to their registration card and fee are accepted by the Division Representive, or the League Owner. All matches using an unregistered player are forfeit.
SCORE SHEETS: A score sheet will be provided for every game. Each team Captain is required to sign the score sheet before results are posted. Each team Captain should look the score sheet over before signing.
Therefore:
Five points shall be assessed against any team not completing ALL the results on any official score sheet. For example: if one game of '01 does not contain a starting score for either player, both teams will be penalized five points, not to exceed the team total for that day.
Appeals
The order of dispute resolution process shall flow as follows:

- Captains - who talk to:
- Each other or the Division Representative - who talks to or files appeal with:
- Board of Governors - who resolves appeals and who talks to:
- League Owner
Captains and the Division Representative can resolve disputes the same day. Disputes not resolved the same day will be considered appeals. Appeals to the Board of Governors shall be made in writing and both teams shall be assessed a fee of $10 for each appeal.
The function of the Division Representative shall be to arbitrate disputes, and present appeals to the Board of Governors.
The Board of Governors administrates the appeal process for all leagues and their divisions under the control of the League Owner. The rulings of the Board of Governors are final. No team or player may appeal directly to the Board of Governors, or the League Owner.
The function of the League Owner shall be to approve the rulings of the Board of Governors. Direct appeals to the League Owner are not allowed, and the outcome of any such discussion with the League Owner shall not be binding.
The League Owners review of Board of Governor ruling is to insure that Board of Governor rulings are in the best interest of ALL leagues, in ALL areas, in ALL divisions.
Sportsmanship Guide
The ADL of Michigan has set the following guidelines to handle verbal abuse, language (profanity), physical contact and other sportsmanship problems. Note: These guidelines represent minimum penalties and all problems will be accorded due punishment per occurance. Based upon the specific circumstance, the League Office has the option to impose an even stronger penalty. It is important that those ladies and gentlemen, who cannot act as such, adjust their behavior appropriately or risk being removed from the league.
Verbal abuse consists of name-calling, threats, profanity, or any other language that could be considered harrassment, or that could cause embarrassment to other league members or non-members. Physical contact is hostile physical contact between two players, or between a player and a non-member(s). This contact can be in the form of bumping, shoving, pushing, or hitting.
